UK Playstation magazine PSW recently had some play time (Issue 103) with the Konami's upcoming ps3 game Metal Gear Solid 4. A posting at the GameTrailers.com Forums reveals that the same level they demoed will be available on the PlayStation Network in February.
From PSW: "Want more MGS4? Well you'll get it very soon. The stage played here will be out on the PSN Store in the next month."
Although Ryan Payton, Assistant Producer for Metal Gear Solid 4, explained last month that a demo for the video game wasn't likely to appear, this latest playstation 3 news suggests Konami may have had a change of heart. Before we totally get our hopes up though, we have to note that they never actually said the word "demo." Not even the word "playable." There is a chance they may be talking about a video, similar to the full video walkthrough they showed at the E for All Expo.At any rate, at least we know that something is coming. We'll have to wait until next month to see what's really up with the announcement. Check back for updates.

Ubisoft puzzled over PS3 Assassin's Creed problems

Assassin's Creed may be getting a certain amount of flak from critics as being lacking in the gameplay department, but is it actually broken? Gamers who've purchased the ps3 video game certainly think so. Reports are circulating that the bug appears to cause Altair's animation to literally freeze – even if he's in the middle of the air or galloping along the ground. Though the recent patch helped alleviate freezing issues for some, other users are still reporting issues with the video game. Unfortunately, it appears that even Ubisoft doesn't know what's going on.
Ubisoft’s senior public-relations manager says Ubisoft is investigating the matter and is not exactly sure what’s causing the glitches. The company noted a drop in complaints once PS3 gamers noticed that turning off the automated login feature on the PlayStation Network, or PSN, reduced the number of crashes. Ubisoft is working on a patch for the problems using feedback from gamers and blogs, Beadle says. While owning a ps3 console is great and there has never been a better time to own one it's still got problems like any other gaming platform but it's a little saddening when even the game developers don't know what's going on with their own video games.

Terminator Coming to PS3

The Terminator franchise has just been transferred to the hands of privately funded company Halcyon Co. Aside from the planned movie Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the latest playstation 3 news is that the company is also planning to release a new ps3 video game title based from the said film. Halcyon announced this week that they have set up their own dedicated studio to oversee development of the upcoming ps3 game, which has been in production for several months. The new games division of Halcyon Co. will be headed by former Disney and Bellrock Media executive Peter Levin as acting CEO. The position for the VP of Production will be manned by Cos Lazouras who was recently involved with Vin Diesel's game production house Tigon Studios. The movie itself takes place an unknown number of years after the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, focusing on a post-apocalyptic setting as a now 30-year old John Conner and the remnants of the human race face an uphill battle to survive against the notorious Skynet Corporation.
Specific console releases were still not revealed but Halcyon Co. did mention that the game will be released "on all formats, including next-generation consoles, PC, and mobile, [it] is expected to hit the marketplace at the same time as the film, which is slated for release in summer 2009.

Beowulf the Game

Beowulf, one of the new ps3 video games is being developed by the award-winning team that created the original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter(r) in Ubisoft's Tiwak studio. Beowulf is an action combat ps3 video game based on Paramount Pictures' and Shangri-La Entertainment's Beowulf, the upcoming feature film from Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis. The upcoming ps3 game is scheduled for worldwide release in conjunction with the movie's opening in November 2007.The Beowulf video game is an interactive experience that captures the spirit and artistic beauty of the film while offering an even deeper look into the epic tale of Beowulf. The video game features exclusive content that is unexplored by the film and even the classic tale, extending the adventure through 30 years of the Beowulf story. The roles of King Hrothgar, played by Anthony Hopkins, Beowulf, played by Ray Winstone, Wiglaf, played by Brendan Gleeson, and Wulfgar, played by Sebastien Roche, have been greatly expanded and adapted to the interactive realm to deliver amazing performances that can only be found in the game.
PAIN single and multiplayer modes revealed

Travis Williams, Senior Producer for PAIN, just posted a new trailer featuring the new ps3 game, PAIN's various gameplay modes. There are three Single Player modes: PAINdemonium, the sandbox mode where players can beat up their characters the best way possible and collect points in the process. Then there's the strange yet oddly-satisfying Mime Toss, where players get to toss Mimes through glass while flying up in the air for points. Then there's the Spank the Monkey mode, where players beat the bejeezus out of evil monkey overlords out to conquer the world.Wait 'til you get to know what awaits you in multiplayer: in HORSE, players try to outdo each other by doing the most exquisitely painful human launches. There's also bowling, which is anything BUT bowling. It mostly involves ten pins, explosives, cereal, and anvils among others, all except common sense. Go nuts. Finally, to cap the mindless yet fun gameplay, there's the Fun with Explosives mode where masochists try to blow themselves up as often as they can.
