In-game XMB arrival, PSN accomplishments?

playstation network-playstation store-ps3 news

Digital photographs of what appears to be how the in-game XMB will probably work, as well as gamer accomplishments on Incognito Entertainment's Warhawk surfaced over the PlayStation Network @ Home forums yesterday. And though the anonymous tipster did say that the photos were edited, he did point out that the changes were done to conceal the reflection on the screen which undoubtedly revealed his face.

He also made sure to capture several angles and zoom levels of the shot, perhaps in an effort to boost the photographs' authenticity. The photos show that gamer accomplishments will roll into a player's message box on the Xross Media Bar. It will be completely accessible while playing a game.

The tipper, calling himself sonyguy32, explains that the white cottony artifacts you see on some pictures are actually the clouds in Warhawk, so the XMB will be partially translucent when the in-game mode is activated.

However, speculations as to when the new features will arrive were effectively shot down by long-time media vets. Though people expect the gaming giant to release it this week, media personalities explain that if Sony will make an announcement, it won't be at GDC. They say its because it's a "developer conference" and will have nothing to do about "hardware or firmware."

But because Sony can make the announcement outside of GDC - though coincidentally within the same time GDC is going on - we'll be keeping tabs on this rumor. Head on over to the via link below to view more shots taken and do so while they're still available.

Metal Gear Solid 4 demo coming to PSN?

ps3 video games-metal gear solid 4-ps3 console-
UK Playstation magazine PSW recently had some play time (Issue 103) with the Konami's upcoming ps3 game Metal Gear Solid 4. A posting at the GameTrailers.com Forums reveals that the same level they demoed will be available on the PlayStation Network in February.

From PSW: "Want more MGS4? Well you'll get it very soon. The stage played here will be out on the PSN Store in the next month."

Although Ryan Payton, Assistant Producer for Metal Gear Solid 4, explained last month that a demo for the video game wasn't likely to appear, this latest playstation 3 news suggests Konami may have had a change of heart. Before we totally get our hopes up though, we have to note that they never actually said the word "demo." Not even the word "playable." There is a chance they may be talking about a video, similar to the full video walkthrough they showed at the E for All Expo.At any rate, at least we know that something is coming. We'll have to wait until next month to see what's really up with the announcement. Check back for updates.

Directions For PS3 Online Play

Recently I've noticed some people searching for ps3 online instructions and not being able to set up the ps3 online connection properly. I had the same problem also and this article helped me and hopefully it will do the same for you too. So to help everyone out I'm going to show you the two ways in which to accomplish setting up your ps3 online. You will use either Wired Connectivity or Wireless Connectivity. This illustrtion demonstrates both wireless and wired connectivity.

Wired Connectivity:

The network configuration and connection depends on the connection method and equipment you have.

Important: A router would be required if you want your ps3 console and the computer to be connected to the internet at the same time.

The following are mandatory. You need:

  • An Internet connection

  • A cable modem

  • Ethernet cable.
  • (Available with the PS3)

When you have a wired connection to the Internet, it is not necessary to adjust any of the default settings. (It is done automatically). If you aren't able to connect with the default settings, follow the instructions to adjust the settings.

  1. Select "Network Settings" under "Settings" in the home menu, press the button.

  2. Select "Internet Connection Settings", press the button.
You will be popped with a message stating the Internet connection will be terminated, select Yes, press the button.

  3. Select "Wired Connection", press the button.

  4. Select Easy or Custom and adjust the settings.

  • If you select Easy, then the basic settings are automatically set.

  • If you select Custom, then you need to enter the settings. Refer the settings supplied by your Internet service provider.

Wireless Connectivity:
The network configuration and connection depends on the connection method and equipment you have. The following are mandatory. You need:

  • An Internet connection

  • A cable modem and a router

  • Access point (Not necessary if using a wireless router with built-in wireless functionality)

  • Settings information for the access point (SSID, WEP key, WPA key)

When you try to connect wirelessly to the Internet, First adjust the network settings. These settings may change depending on the type of access point and the network environment you are in.

The following instructions apply most of the network configurations.

  1. Select "Network Settings" under "Settings" in the home menu, press the button.

  2. Select "Internet Connection Settings", press the button.
  3. You will be popped with a message stating the Internet connection will be terminated, select Yes, press the button.

  4. Select "Wireless", press the button.

  5. Select "Scan", press the button.

  6. The system will search for access points within range and display them as a list.

  7. Select the access point that you want to use, press the button. (An SSID is a code or a name that is assigned to the access point. If you have no clue which SSID to use or if the SSID is not displayed, contact the person who set up or maintains the access point.)

  8. Confirm the SSID for the access point, press the right button.

  9. Select the security settings as necessary, press the right button.

  10. Enter the encryption key, press the right button. (The encryption key field will display an asterisk (*) for each character you enter. If you do not know the key, contact the person who set up or maintains the access point).

  11. Select Easy or Custom and adjust the settings.

  • If you select Easy, then the basic settings are automatically set.

  • If you select Custom, then you need to enter the settings. Refer the settings supplied by your Internet service provider.

Ubisoft puzzled over PS3 Assassin's Creed problems

ps3 console-ps3 video games-

Assassin's Creed may be getting a certain amount of flak from critics as being lacking in the gameplay department, but is it actually broken? Gamers who've purchased the ps3 video game certainly think so. Reports are circulating that the bug appears to cause Altair's animation to literally freeze – even if he's in the middle of the air or galloping along the ground. Though the recent patch helped alleviate freezing issues for some, other users are still reporting issues with the video game. Unfortunately, it appears that even Ubisoft doesn't know what's going on.
Ubisoft’s senior public-relations manager says Ubisoft is investigating the matter and is not exactly sure what’s causing the glitches. The company noted a drop in complaints once PS3 gamers noticed that turning off the automated login feature on the PlayStation Network, or PSN, reduced the number of crashes. Ubisoft is working on a patch for the problems using feedback from gamers and blogs, Beadle says.
While owning a ps3 console is great and there has never been a better time to own one it's still got problems like any other gaming platform but it's a little saddening when even the game developers don't know what's going on with their own video games.

ps3 console-playstation 3 information-ps3 news

TOKYO (Reuters) - According to the latest playstation 3 news Sony Corp's PlayStation 3 outsold Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii game console in Japan in November for the first time, raising the prospect that Sony might regain its dominance in the global video game market.Sony, which launched the playstation 3 console a year ago, sold 183,217 PS3 in Japan in the four weeks to November 25, topping sales of 159,193 Wii consoles, according to game magazine publisher Enterbrain, a key watcher of trends in the sector.Sony dominated the game industry for about a decade with previous generations of its PlayStations but lost its crown to the low-cost Wii with its new idea of a motion sensor in the control unit. This opened the way to a whole new range of video games and even exercise programs and helped expand the gaming population beyond core users of young males to women and the elderly. Will this trend continue for the PS3? According to analysts the latest data was encouraging for the prospects of the playstation 3 console, but it was too early to paint a rosy picture for the Sony machine.

Downloading PS3 Games Online

Recently I've been searching for a way to not have to wait to go shopping to buy all my new ps3 games or if i buy them online i have to wait on the games to be delivered, this is really inconvenient when I'm really ready to play right now. So as I'm waiting for the latest game i've ordered online, I search the internet for download ps3 games online and bingo I found this great site that lets you download ps3 games directly to your hard drive no more waiting.

Let's face it buying ps3 video games is very expensive, especially if you buy a lot of them. Now you can download all the media you want for your ps3 console online, including games, music, TV shows and movies, all ready to be transferred instantly to your ps3 console. But when downloading video games from the internet it's easy to get confused. There are so many sites out there to choose from and a lot of them are scams. So where should you download from? And which sites should you avoid?

There are a few simple rules you can follow that will assure you find a great site to download ps3 games online. Firstly, although it's tempting to download ps3 games from 'torrent' sites (file sharing sites) its best to avoid them. The files on these ps3 torrent sites aren't regulated and a lot of the time can contain viruses and spyware that even anti-virus software can't detect. Its best to join a paid site (which should only charge a small one time fee) and have access to there database of video games for life. These databases are always being updated and so have all the latest ps3 new games releases ready for you to download.Next, you should choose a site which has all forms of media available to download, not just ps3 video games. The best sites will have music, movies and TV shows as well as games for all consoles (Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PS3) so check for this before you join. Finally, make sure the site offers a customer support service in case you have any problems or questions you need answering (the best sites offer 24/7 customer support).

The site I've joined is called Fast Game Downloads and it offers everything mentioned in this post if you want to start to download ps3 games online now for a one time fee and get membership for life go to Fast Game Downloads and check it out.

Upgrade #18 for PS3

PS3 firmware updates are all for the greater good, but the latest brings the count up to 18 since the console launched just over a year ago.PS3 firmware update 2.00, which launched November 8,doesn’t make a massive difference to the way the PS3 operates. Here are the highlights, and first up is a new function that allows users to choose their own themes. Those with the time, ability and inclination are even able to tweak fonts, icons, wallpapers etc thanks to theme creation software that runs on a PC. Next up Remote Start. This feature allows owners to boot up and manage their PS3 remotely via a synced PSP. Finally there’s an Information Board which acts like some kind of RSS newsfeed ticker which keeps you constantly updated about new features on Playstation.com and other Sony-selected snippets.
